About the Role
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to own software delivery and secure, reliable, cost-efficient infrastructure across cloud, on-premises, hybrid, and customer environments. This hands-on role combines releases, deployments, platform operations, and team leadership for multi-service products. You will work with development, QA, security, and support teams, implement engineering leadership architecture, and propose improvements. You should bring a clear vision for AI-driven development and guide practical adoption to improve productivity and software quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Releases and CI/CD: Own automated build, test, security scan, release, and deployment pipelines. Maintain artifact versioning, release readiness, approvals, traceability, and repeatable delivery with minimal manual work and fast rollback.
- Deployments and architecture: Understand product components and service communication, and guide teams and customers on deployment architecture. Automate environment validation, installations, upgrades, and health checks across containers, Kubernetes, and virtual machines.
- Infrastructure and platforms: Design and operate secure, scalable AWS and Azure infrastructure using infrastructure as code and configuration management. Manage container images, networking, connectivity, storage, workload isolation, scaling, upgrades, and high availability.
- Security and reliability: Embed access controls, secrets management, vulnerability checks, supply chain security, and compliance with delivery. Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, root cause analysis, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Cost and performance: Own cloud and infrastructure spending, budgets, tagging, and capacity optimization. Right-size resources, remove waste, apply lifecycle controls, and report savings regularly.
- Architecture and team delivery: Translate agreed designs into plans, set targets, review changes, remove blockers, and track quality, timelines, and cost. Mentor engineers give feedback, and communicate progress and risks to developers, management, and customers.
- Research and documentation: Maintain a technical vision, evaluate best practices, and propose improvements with clear trade-offs. Keep architecture diagrams, system requirements, deployment guides, runbooks, and operational records current; coordinate releases and support coverage.
AI Development Vision and Adoption
- Define a practical direction for AI adoption across development, testing, delivery, and operations. Evaluate emerging tools and identify valuable applications in design, automation, reviews, build and release workflows, security, deployment diagnosis, and incident analysis.
- Use AI-assisted tools in day-to-day engineering and guide the team in effective use. Validate outputs against real cases and measure improvements in productivity and quality alongside accuracy, cost, and failures.
- Apply appropriate safeguards: least-privilege access, protection against prompt injection and data leakage, traceable actions, and human approval for risky changes.
Requirements
- 5+ years in DevOps, release engineering, platform engineering, or a related role, including 2+ years leading or mentoring engineers.
- Hands-on cloud experience, particularly AWS and Azure, including identity, networking, compute, and storage. Experience with other major cloud platforms is also relevant.
- Strong production experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including Helm, container security, networking, persistent storage, scaling, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Git, artifact repositories, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform, OpenTofu, or equivalent tools, including state management, reusable automation, and controlled changes.
- Linux administration and scripting in Python or Bash, with strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to quickly understand complex multi-service products and design secure, scalable, cost-efficient deployment architectures. Working knowledge of DNS, TLS, load balancing, firewalls, private connectivity, and service communication.
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps, vulnerability and dependency scanning, secrets management, least-privilege access, and security best practices.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK, production incident management, backup and recovery, and cloud cost management.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and the ability to shape an AI adoption roadmap that balances productivity, quality, security, and cost.
- Clear communication, technical documentation, and collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- GitOps, configuration management, and progressive delivery using blue-green or canary deployments.
- Customer-hosted, restricted network, or air-gapped deployments; distributed applications and data platforms, including Spark, Kafka, and databases.
- Software supply chain security, software bills of materials (SBOMs), artifact signing, and policy code.
- Exposure to AI agent or evaluation frameworks and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), including tool integration, context and memory management, approval of workflows, and bounded execution.
- Relevant certifications such as CKA/CKAD, AWS, Azure, or Terraform.
Qualities We Expect
- Proactive ownership: Identify risks early, take responsibility for outcomes including failures, deliver commitments, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Commitment and reliability: Care about customer and operational outcomes, communicate risks promptly, and remain dependable during releases and incidents.
- Continuous learning and judgment: Research new technologies, especially AI, share knowledge, and balance speed, security, scalability, reliability, and cost.
- Leadership and execution: Lead by example, hold the team accountable, collaborate constructively, and turn agreed architecture into working systems.
Prerequisites
- B.Tech, MTech, MCA, or a related degree with consistent academic performance, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
What We Offer
- In addition to a competitive salary & bonus structure, we also offer corporate medical cover for employees and immediate dependents.
- 12 days of paid holidays plus yearly defined calendar holidays
- Wiki-Wednesdays (Knowledge sessions across Deep Tech, Trends, Speaker series & more)
